New Orleans, LAEdgard Santos Gonzales, 25, of Houma died in a single-vehicle crash in Jefferson Parish after his vehicle rolled into a drainage ditch on Louisiana 3134. On May 18 the driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the SUV and found submerged in the water. Gonzales was driving north on Louisiana 3134 near Louisiana 45 in Marrero around 4:30 p.m. when he lost control of his car. After the crash the car came to rest on its roof, partially submerged in water. It is unknown whether the driver was impaired at the time of the accident.

Des Moines-Ames, IAAn Iowa teenager died and his passenger was able to escape serious injury after their truck crashed through barricades and landed in a creek. Zachary Meacham, 17, of Guthrie Center, was killed in the crash Wednesday at Brushy Creek in Guthrie County. His passengers' condition wasn't immediately reported. The truck crashed into the barricades and drove off an 18-foot drop into the creek, landing upside down and submerged in water. Meacham was found deceased inside the vehicle. Police say he wasn’t wearing a seatbelt.
