Samantha R. Herndon was driving an SUV on Parks Highway when for unknown reasons her vehicle left the roadway and rolled. Herndon was taken to Mat-Su Regional Medical Center for treatment of her injuries. Two children were in the car with her during the crash but were apparently unhurt. They were taken to the medical center as well for precautionary reasons.

Claudia R. Jacobs, 35, of Palmer was southbound on the Old Glenn Highway in a 2002 Ford Expedition when she lost control of the vehicle and rolled multiple times at mile 12.8. Jacobs was pronounced deceased on scene, while her 10-year-old passenger was transported to Mat-Su Regional Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.

According to Elizabethtown police, David Scott Weiser, 13, was walking home from school at 3 p.m. Monday when he was struck by a car in the 500 block of East High Street. The driver of the car, Mary Roush, 37, of Elizabethtown, was stopped at the stop sign on North Chestnut Street. When she turned left onto East High Street, her car struck Weiser. It is believed that David was in a crosswalk at the time of the collision. A fundraiser for David's memorial can be found here

Freeman H. Howes is facing charges of child endangerment after he drove his pickup truck off of South Abby Boulevard and hit a telephone junction box with two children under the age of ten in his vehicle. Howes was intoxicated at the time of the incident and did not report the collision after it occured. The accident caused a total of around 6,000 dollars of damage, primarily to Howes' truck. Howes is currently being held at the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility on $5,000 bail.
