Chicago, ILRyan M. Alton was speeding in northwest Indiana when a police officer tried to pull him over. Alton refused to stop and instead sped-up, driving recklessly from lane to lane. He then struck the back of another vehicle, and debris from the crash hit a third. Alton fled the scene of the crash on foot, and broke into a resident's garage and stole shoes to replace those he had lost while running. Police found him in a shed at another home nearby. He was transported to an area hospital with minor injuries. No one was hurt in the crash.
