A 23-year-old woman driving a 2014 Nissan Altima, was Heading south on Queen Ka'ahumanu Highway when she crossed the center line and side-swiped a Ford Fusion, then crashed head-on with a Honda CRF 250L motorcycle. The driver of the motorcycle has been identified as 47-year-old  Rick Dupont. His passenger has not yet been identified. Dupont and his passenger were thrown from the motorcycle. They were transported to Kona Community Hospital where they were later pronounced deceased.

Authorities are reporting that a 36-year-old driver has been arrested for allegedly driving while under the influence after a two-vehicle collision Sunday Morning. The driver arrested was driving on the wrong side of the road and collided into another vehicle head-on. The passenger of the vehicle that was hit has been taken to the hospital. The driver that caused the accident attempted to flee, but witnesses drove after him until he stopped. We will update this story as more information becomes available.

Police received report of a head-on collision between a northbound pickup truck, driven by a 39-year-old man, and a southbound Kia vehicle on Queen Ka'ahumanu Highway at about 5:17am. The collision caused the Kia to catch fire, and while one 17-year-old girl managed to escape, the driver and two other passengers in the vehicle died. The 17-year-old girl and the 39-year-old driver of the truck were both taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries. We will update this accident as more information becomes available.

One person has died following a two-car crash Wednesday afternoon in the Mountain View area of Hawaii island. The head-on accident occurred on Highway 11 near the 13th mile marker. According to initial reports, at least six people were injured, but the extent of their injuries is not immediately known. One person died at the Hilo Medical Center, police say. Authorities are on scene to investigate and direct traffic. The area is expected to be closed for several hours.
