A suspected DUI driver was arrested after crashing into an Orange County home and killing a resident who was in bed inside early Sunday, officials said. A man was killed when the vehicle struck the Mission Viejo home just before 4 a.m., according to the Orange County Fire Authority. The man was in bed when the vehicle struck the home. The victim was pronounced dead on arrival, officials said. Two people inside the vehicle suffered minor injuries, officials said. The driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, authorities said.

A man was in custody Sunday night after allegedly crashing his car twice in northwest Harris County -- the second time into a family's home. According to investigators, a red Toyota sedan was involved in a hit-and-run accident on Veterans Memorial. The driver reportedly fled the scene of the accident and went to a gas station about a mile away on Greenwood Forest at FM 1960 in the Champions Forest area. For unknown reasons, the suspect then drove across the gas station parking lot and straight into a family's apartment, crashing through their dining room and entering their living room.

A tanker carrying thousands of gallons of fuel overturned and burst into flames on a Long Island highway just before midnight Tuesday, causing two injuries and an inferno that charred several cars, damaged four homes and a Harley-Davidson dealership, Nassau County authorities say. The tanker was traveling east on Sunrise Highway in Bellmore when it rear-ended another vehicle at a stop light, Nassau County police say. After the collision, the tanker turned on its side and spilled fuel as it skidded down Sunrise Highway before coming to a stop at Brevoort Place.

A 28-year-old man is dead after he was ejected from his car early Wednesday morning in Phoenix. The man was driving a sedan east on Tierra Buena Lane, just north of Greenway Road, at 47th Avenue when he lost control, hit a cemented mailbox and tree stump and the car rolled, said Phoenix police. The driver was ejected and his body came to rest in the street. Police said some residents in the area said they heard a loud noise between 2 and 3 a.m., but no one went outside to see what it was, Holmes said. Police were called to the scene until about 5 a.m., he said.

Three men were taken to the hospital after a truck hauling a trailer filled with construction equipment smashed through the picture window of a home at 5784 Ferron Circle in Taylorsville. It happened just before 2 p.m. when family members say Ben Pearson, 54, potentially blacked out while driving and smashed into the house where Dean Rottini, his dog Nicki and his friend Tommy Gonzales were watching TV.

A hit-and-run driver damaged a building and struck another car, sending two people to area hospitals Thursday night in the Southwest Side Gage Park neighborhood, police said. About 8:45 p.m., a driver in a Chrysler 300 traveling north on Washtenaw Avenue struck a Nissan Altima driving westbound on 59th Street near the intersection, police said. The Chrysler then struck a building on the northwest corner of the intersection, causing “significant structural damage,” police said. Police said the driver of the Chrysler fled the scene on foot.

A driver was taken to a hospital in life-threatening condition after crashing into a house on the Southside on Tuesday afternoon. Jacksonville police said the crash was the result of a medical emergency. Traffic homicide investigators were called to the crash in The Woods subdivision just before 6 p.m. Police said the truck hit the house in the 12800 block of West Deep Lagoon Place. No one was home at the time. The damage was said to be minor. The driver of the truck was transported to Mayo Clinic. Police did not immediately release the driver's identity.

Four adults were injured in Perris Sunday afternoon when a 19-year-old Romoland man suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol crashed his vehicle into a restaurant, officials said. Authorities responded about 3:20 p.m. to the crash at Mariscos La Sirena restaurant in the 2900 block of North Perris Boulevard. One adult suffered major injuries and another received moderate injuries as a result of the crash, authorities said. Two other adults were minorly injured.
