Tuesday, January 6, 2015Colorado State Patrol says a Calhan man was killed in a crash Tuesday night at around 6:00 p.m. on Highway 94 about 13 miles east of Colorado Springs. A 1996 Toyota Corolla driven by Philip Cooley was eastbound on Highway 94 when it slowed to make a left turn onto northbound Peyton Highway. A 2001 Dodge 2500 driven by Jesse Matamales of Yoder was traveling behind the Toyota failed to slow down and crashed into the back of the Toyota. The two vehicles remained attached to each other and skid for about 153 feet. Cooley was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sunday, October 19, 201435-year-old Jonathon Schrein died following a two-car collision at the intersection of Teller County Road 5 and Teller County Road 51. The accident occured on Sunday, October 20 when Schrein turned onto Teller County Road 51 when Preston Wells, 20, hit him. Wells failed to stop at the stop sign between the roads, which caused the collision. Schrein died at Penrose Main Hospital. Wells was not injured and has been charged with Careless Driving Causing Death.

Sunday, October 12, 2014A car drove into a home in Colorado Springs Sunday night, October 12. the incident occured at the 2800 block of N. Chestnut Street when the car went through two fences before hitting a brick wall. No information about injuries is available at this time.
