William Gerringer was driving on Mebane Rogers Road towards his high school when he attempted to make a left turn onto West Lake Trail. He failed to yield to another vehicle driven by Melissa Davis, 48, and the vehicles struck head-on. A medical helicopter transported Gerringer to a hospital in Chapel Hill. Davis and her two children were taken by ambulance to Alamance Regional Medical Center. Both vehicles were totalled.

About 20 students were taken to the hospital after a school bus was involved in a crash in Winston-Salem Wednesday morning. The crash happened around 10 a.m. at the intersection of Murray Road and Becks Church Road. A total of 49 students were on bus 771, which serves Gibson Elementary School, at the time of the crash. Of those, 19 students complained of pain and were taken to Brenner Children's Hospital in the county EMS bus.
