Cary Neal Rogers, a UPS semi-truck driver, was outside of his truck that was parked on the shoulder of the turnpike when a second semi driven by Scott Randall Sims was driving eastbound on the turnpike when for an unknown reason, it veered off the roadway and rear-ended the UPS semi.  Both Rogers and Sims were pronounced dead at the scene. Sims was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the wreck and was ejected from his vehicle.
