According to police in Grand Junction, at about 5:50 p.m. Tuesday, a 17-year-old teenage boy apparently sped off the south edge of Grand Avenue in the 700 block and then veered into the westbound lanes in the 800 block, where he struck a motorcyclist, identified as Preston Ellis, 57, and a parked car. Ellis was killed. The teen, who was armed, fled the scene with his backpack and a gun. He then forced a woman and her two children out of their SUV on the east side of Washington Park.
