Wednesday, January 7, 2015At about 1 p.m. Tuesday outside Mary Black Memorial Hospital, Ashton Hughes, 19, died in a car crash as she was leaving a hospital appointment in Spartanburg County. Her Honda van apparently ran into an SUV that was stopped at a traffic signal on Skylyn Drive at Drayton Road. Hughes was pregnant, and the twins she was carrying survived, as did her 11-month-old baby that was also in the car. That baby was uninjured. The driver of the SUV, a Pauline woman, was also not injured in the accident.

Tuesday, October 21, 2014Shizaire Mitchell, 19, of Greenville, died Wednesday morning following a two-car collision that sent the Honda Civic he and four others rode in into a gas station. The other occupants, aged 15, 18, and 19, were injured and taken to Greenville Memorial Hospital. The accident occured Tuesday, October 21 around 8:30 p.m. when the Civic went off the road and into the parking lot of a Spinx gas station at U.S. 25 and Welcome Avenue. The Civic collided with a vehicle, then hit a bank of gas pumps. Mitchell, who was stuck inside the vehicle, died at the scene.
