The football player was miraculously unhurt in the 3:30 a.m. crash, which happened when his rental car hit a large amount of water on the turnpike while going about 65 mph to 70 mph. The car began to hydroplane, and the airbags deployed. Weatherford exited his vehicle and within two minutes, a second car hydroplaned out of control and struck the rental, which was totaled. Few details are available regarding the second driver. Weatherford called 911, and New Jersey state troopers drove him 45 miles home to Hoboken.

A two-car collision occured on the Atlantic City Expressway at around 1:30 p.m., resulting in the deaths of two people, a male and a female. The snowy conditions are likely to have been a factor in this accident. One of the cars was on fire when troopers arrived. The ages and identities of the victims have not yet been released.

Amgad Mikhael was driving his SUV on Route 287 when he crashed into the back of a semi-trailer that was parked on the shoulder of the road. He was declared dead at the scene. Authorities do not believe drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash, though the wet and rainy conditions might have played a role. No one else was injured. Two lanes on Route 287 were closed for about three hours that evening.

Charles Mittermaiser, 62, of Branchburg, was killed in an accident on Route 28 during Thursday morning's snow storm. A Ford pickup truck driven by Timothy Lavoie, 53, of Raritan, was heading west on Route 28 when it crashed into a Honda Civic driven by Mittermaier. The cause of the crash is being investigated.
