Two tour buses was traveling on Interstate 70, carrying bands that were going to perform in Denver that night. A spring storm brought fog and rain, making driving conditions treacherous. One of the tractor-trailers rear-ended another, seriously injuring the bus driver, 41-year-old John Crawford. Eleven passengers sustained minor to moderate injuries. The bands were both headed for shows in Denver but were not traveling together.

A blind pedestrian was crossing a road at the intersection of East Mississippi Avenue and South Havana Street when he was hit by a 67-year-old woman. The woman was traveling northbound on South Havana Street and had the right of way at the time. The man was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. At the time of the accident it was raining and the pedestrian was intoxicated and not crossing in a crosswalk.

A trooper with the Colorado State Patrol was seriously injured when a van hit her patrol car while investigating a crash. Trooper Adeline Roybal was in her patrol car on the left shoulder and median of Interstate 70 near mile marker 292 around 10:45 p.m. Thursday when she was hit by a 1996 Ford van. The collision was so intense it pushed Roybal’s Crown Victoria and another patrol car into the median. Roybal suffered serious injuries and was taken to Aurora South Medical Center for treatment.
