San Francisco police are investigating a horrific fatal accident on a busy street at Fisherman's Wharf that resulted in the tragic death of a two-year-old boy Friday afternoon.
Kayson Shelton, who was visiting San Francisco from Draper, Utah, with five members of his family, was playing outside their hotel on Jefferson Street when the boy climbed up on a large statue of a dolphin that was standing in from of Majestic Collection Art Gallery.
OAKLAND (CBS SF) — A man riding his bicycle in the Oakland Hills Saturday morning was critically injured when a driver struck him and fled the scene, police said Sunday.
Officers responded around 9:30 a.m. Saturday to reports of a collision involving a car and bicyclist in the 6600 block of Broadway near Lake Temescal, according to police.
Police said officers found the bicyclist, a 53-year-old Oakland man, suffering from serious injuries.
He was taken to a hospital in critical condition, where he remained today.
BERKELEY – A Holiday City woman died after two cars crashed Saturday at the intersection of Jamaica Boulevard and Le Lamentin Drive, Berkeley police said.
Ann Masterson, 86, of Holiday City died shortly after her 2002 Buick Century collided with a Ford F-250 pickup truck, driven by Shannon Lauria, 39, also of Holiday City, police said in a news release Sunday.
The Mendocino County Coroner's Office on Wednesday identified the woman killed Sunday in a fatal crash near Cleone as Kymberly Greenlees, 49, of Fort Bragg.
She was driving a 2001 Volvo on Highway 1 north of Cleone at 40 to 45 mph when her car veered across the double yellow lines into the path of an oncoming southbound car, according to a press release issued by the Ukiah CHP. The head-on crash with a 2000 Ford occurred about 1:30 p.m. Sunday.
Officer Kylar Adams said it's not clear why Greenlees' vehicle veered out of her lane. The CHP has found no witnesses so far.
A woman died when she was ejected from a car fleeing from a robbery in San Leandro, police said Saturday.
The incident began about 8:50 p.m. Friday when a man tried to buy an item at the Radio Shack at 1359 Washington Ave. with counterfeit money, San Leandro police said.
When the store clerk confronted the man, the suspect "threatened to harm him and fled the store with the stolen item," police said.
A female victim wearing earphones was struck and killed Monday by an Amtrak train in San Leandro after a witness tried unsuccessfully to warn her of its approach, police said.
The victim, whose name and age weren't immediately released, was walking south along the east sidewalk of Hesperian Boulevard near Springlake Drive about 5:55 p.m. as a southbound Amtrak train was approaching, said San Leandro police Lt. Rick DeCosta.
BART is reporting that Pleasant Hill station is closed due to a major medical emergency, and there are delays of up to 30 minutes in both directions on the Pittsburgh-Bay Point line.
The person was reportedly hit around 10 a.m.
BART police located the person, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Trost said BART police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision.
Trains are single-tracking through the area but are not stopping at the Pleasant Hill station.
One person was killed in a crash involving a car and a motorcycle off of state Highway 4 in Concord Thursday morning, a California Highway Patrol officer said.
The collision happened just before 7 a.m. near the intersection of Willow Pass and Avila roads, according to the CHP.
The motorcyclist is believed to have been the person killed in the crash, CHP Officer Kevin Bartlett said. The name of the victim was not yet being released.
An off-duty Oakland police officer, fire and medical crews responded to the scene, Bartlett said.
Police are investigating a fatal, high-speed crash that caused a power outage in Richmond on Tuesday night.
According to Richmond police Lt. Joey Schlemmer, at about 9:30 p.m., a woman was driving a green Ford Mustang and traveling at high speeds north on Garrard Boulevard past West Macdonald Avenue, when she lost control of her vehicle.
The Mustang then left the roadway and slid broadside into a telephone pole.
Schlemmer said the woman was the sole passenger in the vehicle, and she was pronounced dead at the scene,
Two people were killed and three others seriously injured in a single-vehicle car crash early Sunday near Mills College in Oakland, authorities said.
Around 2:30 a.m., the vehicle with five people inside drove through a chain link fence before smashing into trees at Seminary Avenue and Outlook Avenue, said Battalion Chief Emon Usher of the Oakland Fire Department.
The car was badly mangled with four people trapped inside. The fifth person was found a short distance away near 55th Avenue and MacArthur Boulevard, but it was not clear how that person got there, Usher said.
