One person was killed when an Amtrak passenger train collided with a pickup truck in Alton, Illinois, at around 9:30 Sunday morning. The controlled crossing includes gates, bells and warning lights. Witnesses reported seeing the truck driver go around the warning gates.  The vehicle lodged under the front of the Amtrak locomotive. No one on the train suffered injuries.
