Charges are expected to be filed Monday for the driver accused of crashing into three people while allegedly driving drunk in a Walmart parking lot. One of the victims, 26-year-old Lindsey Sharp, died from her injuries two days after the crash which occurred just after six Thursday night. Two other people were also hit but thankfully their injuries are non-life threatening. Authorities say 31-year-old Antoine Willis of Springfield was driving drunk through the store parking lot when the crash occurred.
16-year-old Daniel Embrey and two friends were walking near the intersection of 14th and Edwardsville Road around 9:45 p.m. Monday when they were hit by a car. The car then fled the scene. Embrey was pronounced dead at the scene and a another teenager was flown to a St. Louis hospital with serious, but non life-threatening injuries. The third person was not injured. Tuesday morning the suspect's car was found in the 2000 block of 4th Street. The suspect, 26-year-old Son. T. Nguyen, has been charged with the felony of failure to report an accident involving personal injury or death.
Illinois police are asking for the public’s help after a woman was killed in an apparent hit-and-run wreck early Sunday morning.
Authorities say 23-year-old Lana Albert was walking in and out of traffic on Old US 50 west of Breese, Ill. around 2:15 a.m. when she was struck by a vehicle.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Albert's father tells News 4 she was living in Edwardsville working as a dental assistant. She was originally from Odin, Ill.
Police have not released a description of the vehicle.
COLLINSVILLE, Illinois – A Collinsville man died Wednesday night after being hit by a car.
Collinsville Police Lt. Todd Link said officers responded to a man hit in the 2000 block of Vandalia Street.
Paramedics airlifted Joe Merrifield, 69, to an area hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The driver of the car, who has not yet been identified, has cooperated with police and no charges have yet been issued.
The incident continues to be investigated.
A Champaign man was killed in western Vermilion County Thursday night as he walked on a state highway.
The Vermilion County Coroner identified the man as Mathew F. Wheeler, 29.
Mr. Wheeler was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:22 p.m., Johnson said. An autopsy was to be done today.
Johnson's office and Illinois State Police continue to investigate the accident, which happened at 9:17 p.m. on Illinois 49, a quarter mile north of Vermilion County Road 2000 N. That's about two miles northwest of Fithian.
A pedestrian was struck on Illinois Route 15 in Alorton Friday night.
According to police, a New Athens woman was driving her 2010 Ford Focus on Route 15 near Pocket Road around 8:30 p.m. when she struck a male pedestrian.
The pedestrian was transported to SLU hospital. The female driver was taken to a hospital in Belleville. Conditions of the pedestrian and driver have not been released.
