Michael F. Lee, a 55-year-old dentist was riding his bicycle on Shiloh Road when he was struck from behind by a vehicle heading in the same direction. Lee was wearing proper warning lights and safety gear and was pronounced dead at the scene. Information about the car that struck Lee is not yet available, check back for more information as it's released.

Jezek suffered a serious chest injury requiring surgery. He was taken to GHS Greenville Memorial Hospital where he underwent surgery. “Athletes are of a different breed. Because of their conditions and training ability, they often recuperate faster than many people,” Barbeau said.

A man riding a bicycle in Greenville died in a hit-and-run crash early Sunday morning.

Authorities with the Greenville County Coroner's Office said Abraham Bookhart Jr., 33, of Greenville, was riding in the westbound lanes of Laurens Road when he was hit about 2:45 a.m.

Bookhart died at the scene.

Police said they were able to pull over a suspect in the crash, Damian Hughes, on Ridge Road.

Hughes faces a charge of hit-and-run involving death.
