Both siblings were transported to Duke University Hopsital, but Laura Yost had to have surgery for her injuries and was put into a medically induced coma. A statement was released Tuesday, September 23 indicating that she has passed away.

A firefighter was killed and another was injured Tuesday afternoon after the fire truck they were in overturned in Franklin County. The driver died, and the passenger was being treated at a local hospital.

Investigators believe a man killed in a single vehicle wreck Sunday afternoon was driving in excess of 75 mph when he crashed on U.S. Highway 1 outside Pinebluff. The wreck happened when the vehicle over-corrected and struck trees on the opposite side of the road.

A man died in a motorcycle wreck that closed part of South Saunders Street near downtown Raleigh. Alsabry was charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle. Gillespie died at the hosptial.

Erika Allyha Cogdell was attempting to turn left onto Bingham Drive from Greenock Avenue when her car collided with a sedan driven by Jason Lee. Lee and two passengers in his car were taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center for the treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. No charges have been filed in the wreck. No other information was released.

One person died late Friday in a two-car wreck on Bingham Drive at Greenock Avenue, Fayetteville police said. Officers responded to the area at about 9:30 p.m. Bingham Drive was closed between Marykirk Drive and the Stone Carriage Apartment complex entrance as crews investigated the wreck.

Two people from Southern Pines were killed Friday night when a freight train collided with a vehicle in Morrisville. The crash happened at the railroad crossing at Morrisville Carpenter Road and Chapel Hill Road. The vehicle was trying to make a right hand turn onto Morrisville Carpenter Road. The train crashed into the car, dragging it more than a half-mile down the tracks.
