Four killed, two critical in US 400 crash near Severy
Kansas Highway Patrol dispatchers confirm four people are dead after a crash Saturday along US-400.
A portion of US 400 was closed for a time Saturday afternoon after a fiery head-on collision near the town of Severy in Greenwood County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says a vehicle driven by 72-year-old Alden Lee was traveling west on US 400, when it crossed the center line and collided with a 2004 Ford Ranger that was traveling eastbound.
The westbound vehicle, a 2013 Lincoln MKX, caught fire and came to rest in the eastbound lanes. The Ranger came to rest in the westbound lanes.
Two teenagers, ages 17 and 18, were taken to Wesley Medical Center and were in critical condition.
It is not known why the westbound vehicle crossed into on-coming traffic.
