That has been a bad intersection for a long time.  As drivers find alternate ways to get about, the secondary roads are used and often

reenter a primary road later on.  With Rt 176 being primary, nonstop, and often in excess of the posted 55 MPH, those crossing it or

choosing to make a turn onto or off of, Millstream/Dunham, often wait for a long time.  Add to that a less-than-ideal view, people

looking for an opening into traffic, which can be significant at times, the chances for an accident increase.  There have now been five

people killed there that I know of and several other non-fatal ones since moving here in 1980.  A traffic signal or at least an enforced

speed reduction there, would be helpful.  But I found it difficult to get authorities to respond to suggestions regarding dangerous

situations.  At Deerpass and River Road, the striping allows southbond traffic on Deerpass to pass other vehicles.  With three attempts

to three different authorities, the suggestion of a double line on Deerpass, through that intersection have been ignored.  East and west

bound traffic on River Road however, have the double stripe.  Maybe someone will read this post and find it important enough to act on

it.

I am so sorry that so many people will be grieving these most recent losses at a time when we all are anticipating Christmas holiday

cheer.
