GSP said a preliminary investigation shows that a tractor-trailer was stopped in the travel lanes of I-75 South, possibly because of a mechanical failure. A second tractor-trailer was stopped behind it. A trooper said a third tractor-trailer rear-ended the second one and pushed it forward into the first one.

Jonathan Rickett, Kelsey Smith and her unborn child were killed in the crash. Smith’s husband Austin was originally flown to the hospital in critical condition. On Saturday, officials said he died.

I read that a car merged into traffic in front of the first tractor-trailer and fled the scene. Investigation is still ongoing, I believe.
