Texas man killed in I-25 crash near Walsenburg

A Texas man was killed in an early Thursday morning crash on Interstate 25 near Walsenburg, according to the Colorado State Patrol. 
Khalid Al-Sadun was driving on I-25 with a 42-year-old passenger about 10 miles north of Walsenburg, Colorado when an elk entered the road. Al-Sadun's pickup struck the elk before veering off the side of the road, rolling, and hitting a fence. Al-Sadun was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. Alcohol was not involved in the crash.
