A 43-year old Kansas City woman died after the vehicle in which she was riding struck the base of a highway sign Friday afternoon on Bannister road near Interstate 435.

The woman was identified as Veronica L. Aaron. The wreck occurred about 1:40 p.m. in the westbound lanes of Bannister. The driver’s injuries were considered serious, but not life-threatening, police said.

Witnesses told police the driver apparently had been speeding and passing other vehicles before he lost control. The car slid sideways and slammed passenger-side first into the sign’s concrete base. Firefighters cut apart the crumpled wreckage to reach Aaron.

Police closed Bannister’s westbound lanes to investigate. Detectives said they were investigating whether impairment played a role in the wreck.

WE PLAYED TOGETHER AS LITTLE GIRLS, WHEN I HEARD THIS NEWS, I SAID WHAT! ALTHOUGH WE LOST TOUCH AS WE GREW TO BECOME WOMEN. GOD BLESS HER FAMILY AND FRIENDS, WE WILL SEE EACH OTHER AGAIN.

She was one of the sweetest people here at our organziation. I was blessed to share a walk in our job every morning and see her smile. She was such an uplifting person. She will be missed. Heaven has another angel!

Please investigate this tragedy! Veronica did not deserve TO GO LIKE THIS, at the hands of HER HUSBAND, A SPEEDING INTOXICATED FOOL who did not have a scratch on him!!! They need to throw him under THE DAM JAIL FOR MURDER!!!!

Has the KCMO PD completed the investigation into Veronica Wilson-Aaron's death? Justice for Veronica!

I just came back from the V's Homegoing Services, there were many of her friends and co-workers there! V was TRULY, TRULY LOVED!!! Once her husband spoke, I imagined what Veronica went through! Those who didn't know, had an idea that V went through a lot. Her family (mom, aunt, sister, and her close friends) kept there dignity and I admired them for that!! I still pray that the DA look closely into this matter. My condolences to the family!!

IF YOU KNEW THAT LOSER YOU KNEW HE DID NOT CARE ABOUT ANYTHING OR ANYONE BUT HIMSELF. HE WAS SELFISH AND JEALOUS OF THE LOVE VERONICA RECEIVED FROM OTHERS. I ALWAYS HATED HIM BECAUSE I KNEW HE'D EVENTUALLY HURT HER. I FIGURED IT WOULD BE MENTAL , SPIRITUAL OR EMOTIONAL I NEVER THOUGHT HE'D KILL MY PRECIOUS FRIEND

An earlier article stated that Veronica's husband was intoxicated. Has he been charged? I hope so! I read that people on the road called to report how erratically he was driving! I'm praying for the family.

If the family of Veronica reads this post, I want you to know that Veronica was a wonderful Lady and a wonderful step-mother, to my granddaughter Terra. She will be missed and this tragedy breaks my heart. May all of us who loved her have peace and may the LORD bless all of her family and friends and may her soul rest in peace.

She was a supervisor at my job. Such a sweet person. She will truely be missed. God has taken an Angel home.

I cant believe this happened to such a sweet person. My heart aches! Veronica was my coworker and my friend and she will surely be missed. Heaven gained a angel.
