An 18-year-old Bradenton man died Saturday afternoon from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle crash on Cortez Rd.

An 18-year-old Bradenton man died Saturday afternoon from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle crash on Cortez Rd.

The incident occurred at 4:20 p.m. at the intersection of 106th St. Hugo Arellano was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol report Arellano was traveling east on his 2004 Suzuki motorcycle when he was hit by a 2012 Buick LaCrosse driven by 90-year-old William Mitchell of Bradenton. Investigators say Mitchell was traveling west on Cortez and was attempting to turn left onto 106th St. when he violated Arellano’s right of way.

The front of the motorcycle struck the side of Mitchell’s vehicle. A passenger in the LaCrosse was not hurt. Mitchell suffered minor injuries. The accident and investigation backed up traffic on the Cortez Bridge for more than two hours on Saturday afternoon.

Arellano was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Charges are pending in this case as the investigation continues.

I knew him he was a really good guy no enimes he was my cousin boyfriend when i went to his funniral i gelt like crying but i dident me at age 11 seeing alot of crying rest in peace hugo ill never forget you :'(
