The cause of Daugherty's crash remains under investigation, but he was riding his ATV on pavement, which the Alabama DPS discourages since the vehicles are built for off-road conditions.
A teenage girl was killed Monday in an ATV accident in southern Indiana. Sixteen-year-old Bailey Carty of Paoli was pronounced dead after she was found underneath an overturned ATV which she had been riding in the 2700 block of E. CR 100 North around 5 p.m.
According to officials, the teen, a football star at Russellvile High School, was a passenger in an ATV that crashed on Franklin 34 at Franklin 40 in the East Franklin community at approximately 1 a.m. Sunday. He is currently at a hospital in Huntsville with head trauma.

Bradley Irish was riding a snowmobile on grass when it overturned and injured him. He was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Accident still under investigation.
The ATV, being driven by Angela Russell, 33, of Chouteau, went off the road. The child, whose name was not released, was taken to a nearby hospital where she died.
The boy was not wearing a helmet and was riding in a place he was told not to go and lost control. Fortunately, the boy's 14-year-old cousin was able to lift the quad off of him and call for help. The boy is in the Phoenix Children's Hospital and is expected to recover.
The OHP report states a 2002 Honda TRX 500 driven by James Votaw, 18, of Inola was eastbound when he lost control on a curve, went off the road throwing both him and his passenger, a 16-year-old girl off the ATV. The OHP report said Votaw was driving at an unsafe speed at the time of the crash.
