Boy on scooter struck, killed in Birmingham neighborhood park

The driver is talking with police. It's too soon to say whether any charges will follow the boy's death.

Police identify young boy killed after being struck by car in Gate City

UPDATE: The child has succumbed to his injuries per Sgt. Bryan Shelton. Police are still questioning the driver.

Boy killed riding scooter on Father's Day will be remembered at candlelight vigil

The candlelight vigil is being held one week after 8-year-old Amere Savage was hit by a car in the Gate City neighborhood park. Community spokesman Jeremy Love said The Gate City Foundation will be accepting donations to help with Amere's funeral, which will be handled by Aubrey Bushelon Funeral Services.
