UWA freshman cheerleader killed in Tuscaloosa crash

The University of West Alabama said in a press release Tuesday night that freshman Bethany Harris was killed in a car crash. Trooper Reginal King said Harris was the victim of the crash in Tuscaloosa where the victim was ejected from the car during the accident that happened around 7:45 a.m. Tuesday morning. According to King, Harris was killed when her 2007 Scion Tc left the road and hit an embankment before striking a tree. King said initially, it was suspected the driver left the scene. According to King, the investigation revealed Harris was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected into a wooded area where her body was found around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.

ALEA State Troopers identified the body of a teen who lost her life in a fatal wreck in Tuscaloosa County on Tuesday. Nineteen-year-old Bethany Joyce Harris died when the 2007 Scion TC she was driving struck a tree. Troopers discovered the body at 2:30 p.m. Trooper Reginal King says Harris was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. The body was discovered on the side of Interstate 59 near the Mallisham Parkway exit.
