Woman killed when vehicle is pushed into oncoming traffic in Vestavia Hills crash

A woman was killed Saturday morning in a three-vehicle crash in Vestavia Hills. Kevin York said the crash happened at Shades Crest Road and U.S. 31. Authorities said the city's Sybil Temple will glow blue, as it customary after a traffic fatality. The victim was turning off of Shades Crest on to the southbound lane when she was struck by a motorist in the intersection and pushed into oncoming traffic in the northbound lane where she collided with another vehicle. The accident shut down the highway for more than two hours but traffic is now moving.
