Child killed in Morgan wreck; traffic still blocked on US 231

At least one child was killed in a wreck that occurred around 4:40 p.m. today on U.S. 231 near Bell Point Road, Morgan County Sheriff Ana Franklin said. “We have one confirmed child fatality and seven injuries,” Franklin said. “Two were airlifted to Huntsville Hospital.”

Child killed, 6 injured in Morgan County crash

A child was killed and several others were injured in a one-vehicle wreck in Lacey's Spring. Alabama State Troopers responded to the wreck on U.S. 231 near Bell Point Road close to 4:45 p.m. Alabama State Troopers are still investigating. Morgan County Coroner Jeffrey Chunn said he was seven or eight years old. Officials are still trying to figure out what happened but confirmed two children were ejected.

Troopers ID 6-year-old killed in crash on Brindlee Mountain in Morgan County

State troopers have identified the 6-year-old killed Wednesday afternoon in a crash on Brindlee Mountain. Pineda and a second child, who were not wearing seat belts, were ejected from the vehicle. The other child survived the crash, as did five others in the vehicle at the time, including three other children. Jose Luiz Pineda of Union Grove was killed around 4:35 p.m. Wednesday when the 2002 Chevy Trailblazer he was traveling in left U.S. 231 near Huskey Mountain Road, less than a mile south of Lacey's Spring, and struck a tree.
