Early morning crash injures 4, shuts down I-565 in Huntsville

The eastbound lanes of the interstate between Jordan Road and Memorial Parkway were shut down while officers investigated the crash and cleared up the scene. It has since been reopened.

Teen, former UAB player involved in wreck on I-565 dies

A teen involved in a wreck on 1-565 on Memorial Parkway early Thursday morning has died from his injuries.

At around 3:30 a.m., a driver in a Dodge Charger came around a curve in I-565 and struck a pickup and an SUV that were pulled over on the side of the road due to mechanical problems. Four people were sent to the hospital. One, who was initially in critical condition, has died and been identified as Gregory Maclin, 19. He was a passenger in the Dodge Charger. The driver of the SUV, identified as Jonathan Russell, 33, remains in the hospital with serious, non-life threatening injuries, while the other two people involved have already been treated and released.
