The crash occurred on U.S. Highway 29 at the 61.1 mile marker, one mile south of Dozier.

Slawson was pronounced dead at the scene by Crenshaw County Coroner Ronnie Turner. Moody, and the passenger in her car, were transported to Andalusia Regional Hospital for treatment of their injuries. Luciano was not injured.

Willie Ray Slawson was driving on U.S. 29 when his vehicle collided with another driven by 67-year-old Sandra Kaye Moody. Slawson then collided with a Dodge Ram driven by Michael Luciano, 47. Slawson was pronounced dead at the scene. Moody and a passenger in her car were taken to a local hospital for treatment. Luciano was not hurt. Slawson was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.
