Police said the crash was reported at 6:01 p.m. Officers and medics responded to the intersection of West Eighth Avenue and C Street. The man, later identified as Robert Firlan, 27, was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead, said Jennifer Castro, police spokeswoman. Two hours after the 911 call, a black motorcycle lay on its side where the two roads intersect near a Quality Suites hotel. An orange backpack and one black sneaker were scattered among unidentified debris and the van’s back left wheel. Castro said the man had been driving south on C Street, a one-way road. He wore a helmet. The green Chevrolet Astro van was traveling east on West Eighth Avenue. Then, they collided, she said. The female driving the van was not seriously injured, according to on-scene medics, Castro said. Police were investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash late Tuesday evening. Cynthia wheeler was my sons fiancee. On May 12th Michael Frazier destroyed our lives. Tonight at four am my son calls me from where he is living after having another nightmare. He saw the entire accident. Yes she was against the light at the time but they also have him excessively speeding and if he wasn't the accident could have been prevented. I see him posting pics to his Facebook of him drinking and smiling at what looks like the Frontier bar. Why and how is it he can go on with his life while we struggle day to day trying to recover from our loss. My son has PTSD from this. We both have nightmares. I can't go down the road where she was killed without having a major breakdown. I am crying as I write this. Pedestrians cross the road at the wrong place and against lights several times a day. As drivers we all know this and need to be off our phones paying attention to what we are doing.even tho they cross when they aren't supposed to it is our responsibility to watch for them and stop. To be struck and killed my a motorcycle is like one in a billion. A second pedestrian was struck and killed by a motorcycle here recently. Please watch for them. Save lives. Cynthia was a good girl that worked hard and helped everyone she could and never complained. Knowing her she forgave him the instant it happened. She was pregnant with my first grandchild. Where is justice for Cynthia? Why is he allowed to walk free? It's called involuntary manslauter. Write to the the governor the senate the city prosecuter to help us get justice for Cynthia
