Woman medevaced from rafting accident near Girdwood

Alaska State Troopers say an Anchorage woman was medevaced from a rafting accident in the Girdwood area Saturday afternoon, after a water-rescue effort involving air and ground assets. According to an AST dispatch issued Saturday evening, troopers responded to the Placer River just before 5 p.m. '€œInvestigation revealed Roger David Allely, age 64 of Anchorage, called 911 reporting his boat flipped while rafting down Placer River and his wife, Kathy Jeangreenleaf Allely, age 63 of Anchorage, was ejected and was suffering from a possible back injury and cold shock,'€ troopers wrote. '€œThe rafting party was reported to be on the bank, located near a railroad bridge somewhere between Spencer Glacier and the Seward Highway.'€ A Girdwood Fire Department boat crew traveled upriver to the scene, with Anchorage Fire Department units also responding. Kathy Allely was ultimately flown by a LifeMed air ambulance to Providence Alaska Medical Center for treatment.
