A motorcyclist was killed in a fiery chain-reaction crash that closed the southbound lanes of Interstate 17 at Thomas Road through the evening rush hour Monday.
A DPS spokesman Officer said the accident happened around 3 p.m. and the freeway re-opened about 9 p.m.

A 24-year-old woman and two young children were struck by a car in northwest Phoenix early Friday night.
Phoenix said the vehicle hit the woman and 1 and 3-year-old girls at the intersection of 51st and Glenrosa avenues about 4:50 p.m. Friday.
Glendale Police said a man was hit and killed Thursday night on a busy West Valley roadway.
The victim was found lying in the roadway in the 7500 block of W. Glendale Avenue at around 8 p.m.
