Several hurt, one seriously, after multi-car crash on I-10 in Maricopa Co.

Several people were hurt after a SUV crossed the median and struck several vehicles head on near the Sacaton Rest Area, the Arizona Department of Public Safety said.

While most injuries appear minor, one person was seriously hurt and taken to the Maricopa County Medical Center, DPS officers said.

Interstate 10 westbound is closed between Casa Grande and Phoenix, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

The closure is northwest of the junction with State Route 387, at milepost 182. Traffic is being detoured onto SR 387, which enables drivers to reach Phoenix via SR 187 and then SR 87.

There is no estimated time to reopen I-10 westbound.

Drivers should expect delays on both directions of I-10 near the crash site.
