PD: Man dies after drunk driver plows into his truck

Holmes said around 1:30 a.m. a 33-year-old Michelle Nicole Ayers was driving a Chevy Blazer in the eastbound lanes of Cactus Road near 40th Street when it collided with the rear end of a Ford Expedition that was traveling in the same direction. Investigators said the Blazer was going at a high rate of speed when the impact happened.

A Phoenix man is dead after his SUV was rear ended by another vehicle overnight in Phoenix.

Police spokesman Officer James Holmes said 47-year-old Christopher James Kutcher died after the SUV he was driving was hit from behind by a drunk driver.

Holmes said around 1:30 a.m. a 33-year-old Michelle Nicole Ayers was driving a Chevy Blazer in the eastbound lanes of Cactus Road near 40th Street when it collided with the rear end of a Ford Expedition that was traveling in the same direction.

Investigators said the Blazer was going at a high rate of speed when the impact happened.

The Expedition driven by Kutcher was forced off the road eventually hitting a block wall and a tree, said Holmes.

Holmes said preliminary tests on Ayers reflected her impairment was more than three times the legal limit. She was checked out at the hospital then booked into jail for manslaughter.

The eastbound lanes of Cactus Road were closed near 40th Street for a few hours while the investigation took place.

Heard the story right after I came from work when these 2 people were telling the story to the store clerk and my heart goes to the family and this is why we have to come together as a community to support each other at times like this....so sad and you will always be remembered God's little Angel...
