Santa Cruz: Hit-and-run driver wearing clown mask attacks bicyclist

Detectives located a green 1995 Chevy pickup thought to have been involved in the collision on Oct. 1 in the parking garage of the Saint George Hotel. It sustained damage to the right rear end, and had a clown mask still in the truck, police said.
The cyclist, a 39-year-old from Santa Cruz, was riding east on the bridge on the westbound side of Soquel Avenue, against the flow of traffic, and the pickup was traveling east when the collision occurred. Witnesses said the pickup driver accelerated, causing the tires to squeal and drove on the wrong side of the road in order to hit the man on the bicycle. The cyclist was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.  Jeremy Anecito was arrested on suspicion of attempted homicide.
