The collision occurred at approximately 7:25 a.m., according to the Show Low Police Department. The driver’s vehicle struck multiple bicyclists, at least six of whom were transported to a local medical center by emergency responders, including one who was airlifted from the scene.

The truck then took off, Sleighter said, and officers began a pursuit before opening fire on the driver about a mile down the road. "In the process of that pursuit he was shot," Sleighter said.
