5 killed in head-on crash south of Phoenix - WTOP

By The Associated Press PHOENIX (AP) — Authorities say two cars collided head-on in an outlying area of metropolitan Phoenix, leaving five people dead. Hegstrom says four people died at the scene and a fifth person died after being taken to a hospital. Hegstrom says four of those killed were in a car westbound on Hunt Highway and that the fifth was in a car heading east. Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Chris Hegstrom says the crash happened Sunday night in the Sun Lakes area on the southern fringe of the metro area. Identities of the victims were not released and no other details were immediately available.

Deputies said a four-door sedan with four people inside traveling west on Hunt Highway collided head-on with another four-door sedan traveling eastbound that was only occupied by the driver.
