Two people have died after an accident on Country Club near Interstate 10.

The woman in the driver's seat, 39 year-old Carlita Y. Sheffield, was pronounced dead at the scene. The man in the front passenger seat, later identified as 51-year-old Carl A. Dalmida, was taken to the hospital with life threatening injuries. He later died. 
A deadly car accident happened around 7:00 pm on Sunday evening near South Country Club Road and East Missouri Street. When law enforcement officers arrived at the crash site they found a white, 2007 Dodge Charger that had crashed into a support column underneath the I-10 freeway. The driver, 39 year-old Carlita Y. Sheffield, was pronounced deceased at the crash scene. An adult man in the front passenger seat was taken to the hospital with critical injuries. He later died. He has not yet been identified. Investigators have determined that the vehicle was traveling southbound on South Country Club Road at high speed when Sheffield lost control and hit one of the support columns of the interstate.
