2 Conway drivers killed in crash in Faulkner County

The drivers in a two-vehicle accident early Monday on U.S. 65 North in Faulkner County died after one of the drivers lost control of his vehicle, according to an Arkansas State Police report. Jacob Hynum, 34, of Conway was traveling north on U.S. 65 North at Pickles Gap in his 2005 Chevrolet Silverado about 5:55 a.m. The deaths were the 380th and 381st in a traffic crash in Arkansas so far this year, according to preliminary figures. Monday when he crossed the center turning lane and struck 55-year-old Conway resident David Caldwell's southbound vehicle, a 2000 Chevrolet Equinox, state police said. A minor in Hynum's vehicle, whose name and age were not released, suffered injuries in the accident and was taken to a local hospital, according to the report.

Two Conway men killed in collision

Two Conway men died early Monday in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. 65 north of Conway, the Arkansas State Police said. David Caldwell, 55, and Jacob Hynum, 34, were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash that happened shortly before 6 a.m. near the Pickles Gap community. A child in Hynum's vehicle was hurt. Hynum was driving north on U.S. 65 when he lost control of his 2005 Chevrolet Silverado pickup, which crossed the center turn lane and collided with Caldwell's 2000 Chevrolet Equinox, which was traveling south on the highway, police said. Conditions were clear and the road was dry at the time of the crash.
