Newport residents killed in crash involving semi-trucks

Dawson’s vehicle then went into the path of an oncoming semi-truck, striking it. The driver of the oncoming semi-truck, William Aughenbaugh, of Marion, was also injured in the crash. According to a preliminary crash report by Arkansas State Police, Brenda J. Dawson, 72, of Newport, was heading west on U.S. Highway 64, around 1:30 p.m. According to the report, a passenger in Brenda Dawson’s vehicle, Jeffery L. Dawson, 42, of Newport, was pronounced dead at the scene. A multi-vehicle accident killed 2 people and injured another in Woodruff County Tuesday.

Trucks crash into car, killing two

Two people were killed in Woodruff County Tuesday after a truck rear-ended their car, pushing it into the path of another truck, police said. Police said the driver, Brenda Dawson, was taken to Regional One Health in Memphis, where she was pronounced dead. It collided there with a Peterbilt truck. The driver of the eastbound Peterbilt truck, 64-year-old William Aughenbaugh of Marion, was injured and taken to Cross Ridge Community Hospital in Wynne, according to the report. The deaths were the 494th and 495th fatalities on Arkansas roads in 2015, according to preliminary figures.
