A crash in east Bakersfield has left one person dead and four others hurt.
The crash involved a car, SUV and utility pole, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The CHP said the car's driver was speeding and weaving from side to side before crashing head-on with the SUV.
The car's driver, 38-year-old Scott Mullen, suffered major injuries as his car was split in half by the impact.
His passenger, reportedly his brother, was thrown from the car and died. The coroner's office identified him as 35-year-old Jason Harmon.
Three people in the SUV, a woman and two children, suffered less severe injuries, the CHP said.
Traffic wasn't impacted much, because the crash was in a residential area - Orangewood Street near Foothill High School.
