Woman dies in collision with Kern Sheriff's patrol car

Nancy Joyce Garrett, was the driver of a car that collided with a Kern Sheriff's patrol vehicle about 1:45 a.m. at the intersection of North Chester Avenue and China Grade Loop.

Family of woman killed in crash involving deputy retains law firm

Mark McGowan, Garrett's son, said in the news release his mother was the most loving woman a person could hope to meet, and he and his relatives are heartbroken.
The coroner's office identified the woman killed in the crash as Nancy Joyce Garrett. The CHP identified the deputy as 26-year-old Nicholas Clerico, a 3 1/2-year veteran of the department. He suffered moderate injuries and was released Sunday morning from Kern Medical Center.
