Two die in early Sunday morning crash in Tehama County

Neither Underwood nor Alvares was wearing a seat belt. According to the CHP report, alcohol is likely to have been a factor in the collision.

Two Tehama County men died Sunday morning after the car they were in collided with a gate post and rolled multiple times. Robert Burns Underwood III, 28, of Gerber, and Bryan Anthony Alvares, 23, of Flournoy, both were fatally injured and were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash on Rawson Road north of Gyle Road. Underwood was driving a 2005 Dodge four-door sedan southbound on Rawson north at a high rate of speed. The left rear tire deflated and Underwood lost control and struck a guard rail and then hit the gate post.
