Alcohol believed to be a factor in fatal Chico crash

The California Highway Patrol suspects that the man driving during a Friday night crash was under the influence of alcohol. The accident was reported to the CHP at 7:49 p.m., and when officers arrived they found two men injured in the road. According to a CHP press release, the red Dodge pickup was speeding south on Doe Mill Road north of Crown Point Road when the vehicle ran off the road and flipped.

Driver Steve Togafu, 45, of Chico was arrested for suspicion of DUI and released to Enloe Medical Center for treatment. Passenger John Onyeabor, 43, of Chico, was pronounced dead on the scene.
