1 killed, 5 injured after SUV plows through Canoga Park doughnut shop

A customer who survived the crash, Bruce Bowman, told the television station that before he picked out a seat in the shop that night, he wondered whether it would be safe. He rationalized to himself that he didn't see anything unsafe about it.

One adult is dead and four others are injured after a car crashed into a doughnut shop in Canoga Park. The injured in the accident are in critical or serious condition. The crash occurred shortly before 10 p.m. at Jolly Donuts at the corner of De Soto Avenue and Roscoe Boulevard in Canoga Park. One person, who was apparently a homeless man who frequented the shop to purchase coffee and charge his phone, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, Kristen Chang, 42, had been taken to a hospital and would be evaluated to determine whether alcohol was involved. It hasn't been determined how many of the injured were inside the doughnut shop. They were taken to an area hospital.
