Alcohol and speed were factors in a violent rollover crash that killed a 17-year-old male passenger in Bellflower early Saturday, officials said.

Authorities responded around 2 a.m. to a wreck on Rosecrans Avenue at Lakewood Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

The driver, a 23-year-old man who may be the dead teen’s brother, was traveling at a high rate of speed when he lost control of his vehicle and hit a curb and a wrought iron fence, sheriff's officials said. The impact caused the vehicle to flip into a tree.

Alcohol was a factor in the incident, as well as the car's high rate of speed, according to LA Sheriff's Department's Lakewood Station officials.

The teen who died was sitting in a rear seat before the crash, officials said.

Four people were ejected from the vehicle and five people were taken to the hospital, officials said. They were listed in stable condition and expected to survive.

No charges have been filed yet and the investigation is still ongoing.
