The woman, who was estimated to be between the ages of 45 and 55, was pronounced dead at the scene, the officer said. It appeared she had been jaywalking, he added.

Carmen Alvarez, 59, of North Hollywood was pronounced dead at the scene, officials in the county coroner’s office said.
The crash was reported at 12:10 a.m. Friday near the intersection of Victory Boulevard and Satsuma Avenue, said an officer at the Los Angeles Police Department’s Valley Traffic Bureau.
