Just after 5 a.m., eight people were riding in a 2003 Ford Explorer, heading eastbound on the 60 Freeway near Reservoir Street in Pomona, California Highway Patrol officer Rodrigo Jimenez said. The passengers were family and friends were heading home from Universal Studios Hollywood Horror Nights.
The driver, 25-year-old Elena Chavez from Lake Elsinore, said a white car may have clipped her, causing her to lose control of the car, according to CHP. With help from the Pomona Police Department, authorities searched the area for a white car, but had not located one as of Saturday afternoon.
Just after 5 a.m., the group of eight were riding in a 2003 Ford Explorer that seats seven, heading home to Lake Elsinore from from Universal Studios Hollywood Horror Nights. A family member said the outing was for an engaged couple and her in-laws to-be.
With help from the Pomona Police Department, authorities searched the area for a white car, but had not located one as of Saturday evening.
Mourners gathered Saturday night to leave candles at the crash scene.
As the California Highway Patrol continued its investigation into a Saturday morning hit-and-run crash in Pomona that killed four Lake Elsinore residents, family members said the incident had left them devastated.
