The incident began when two people in a Scion SUV came to a stop in lanes, likely because the vehicle was disabled, Officer Jessie Karasinski said. Another vehicle came along and crashed into the Scion.

Migul Perez, 63, was a passenger in one of the vehicles, according to the coroner’s office. Bilda Santizo, 37, of Los Angeles, was driving the vehicle Perez was in, and she died at the scene of the crash, which was reported at 11:26 p.m. Sunday near Slauson Avenue.
